Our Services
Everything you and your pet might need.
Wellness Exams and Vaccines
We provide annual visits and vaccine protocols tailored to your pet and your specific lifestyle. In each visit, we perform a complete physical examination, discuss your pet’s health, weight, nutrition, and dental needs, and focus on ways to keep him or her healthy. Sometimes we may recommend tests or treatments based on our physical exam findings to ensure your pet stays in good health. We are always happy to answer questions you may have.
Medical Consultations
We see pets for many reasons, no matter the symptoms they are having. If you have questions about changes in your pet’s health, or are concerned about him or her for any reason, do not hesitate to call us for an appointment.
Behaviour Consults
We know that pets can develop behavioural problems for many reasons. From puppy training, to anxiety and aggression, we will be happy to discuss your pet’s mental well-being and provide you with information and resources to keep your relationship strong. Some pets require behavioural medication to live a good quality of life, whether for anxiety or senility, which we are happy to provide if needed.
Lab tests
We may recommend lab tests for various reasons. We have the capability to run tests in our clinic, or send samples out to a reference laboratory for specialty tests. We routinely run blood tests to evaluate red and white cells, serum bio-chemistries to check electrolytes, liver, and kidney health, fecal tests for parasites, and urine tests. We also can do fungal and bacterial cultures.
Parasite Prevention and Treatment
There are many parasites your pet can get, even if you live downtown. We can discuss your pet’s individual risks for things like heartworm disease, intestinal worms, fleas, and ticks, as well as give you medications for treatment and prevention tailored to you and your pet.
Surgery
We do many types of soft tissue surgery including spays, neuters, mass removals, and abdominal surgery. We have standard gas anesthesia, surgical and monitoring equipment, and well-trained staff to closely watch your pet to ensure pet safety.
Endoscopy
We have several endoscopes for advanced visualization of ears, noses, and throats, and for performing laparoscopy, and a new flexible endoscope for evaluation of the upper gastrointestinal system and trachea. We can take digital pictures and videos using our equipment.
Ultrasound
We use ultrasound to assist in diagnosis and performing tests. We commonly use our ultrasound for pregnancy diagnosis, imaging the abdominal organs such as liver and spleen, assessing the bladder for stones, and assisting with fine-needle sampling.
Digital X-ray
Our digital x-ray allows us to get excellent images of various body parts such as bones, chests, and abdomens. Using digital allows us to minimize patient exposure to radiation and take images quickly and accurately. We can even send our x-rays over the internet to a board certified Veterinary Radiologist to assist with interpretation.
Dental Cleaning and Extractions
We provide dental evaluations, cleaning, and extractions based off your animal’s individual needs. To assist us with this, we have 4 “stages” of dental procedures. We would be happy to see your pet to evaluate his or her need and provide you with information on what we recommend specifically.
Digital Dental X-ray
Part of our comprehensive oral examination during dental procedures involves digital dental x-rays. This allows us to take accurate images of your pet’s teeth to look for hidden diseases not visible on the surface to provide your pet with all necessary care.
Pharmacy
We stock a wide variety of medications from parasite drugs, to pain relievers, to therapeutic medications. If we do not routinely stock a specific drug necessary for your pet, we can usually get one ordered in within 4 days. We can also write external prescriptions if necessary. Please note that we do not offer or recommend purchasing medications from online pharmacies. Read Health Canada’s statement here.
Veterinary and Prescription Diets
We stock a wide variety of veterinary-exclusive and prescription diets, from several top brands. We are always happy to help you choose the right food for your pet based on their age and health. If we do not routinely carry the food you require, we can usually order it in within 4 days.
Kennels
We have separate dog and cat kennels, a large dog run, and separate isolation kennels for keeping your pets during their hospital visit. Our patients stay comfortably in kennels while recovering from surgeries, waiting for procedures, or to have treatments such as IV fluids, medications, or testing done. Our ill patients get priority use of the ICU kennels kept within the treatment room for close monitoring. As we are a hospital, and not a boarding facility or pet hotel, we do not provide routine boarding services.
Shave Under Sedation
For cats that are prone to matting and will not allow you to brush them at home or are too aggressive for the groomer, we can give them the care they need without adding to their stress. We give them a short-lasting sedation that allows us to shave them in a safe, relaxed way. The goal of our grooming is functional as opposed to cosmetic, so please discuss with the staff prior to your appointment if you are concerned about your pet’s appearance.
Nail Trims
We can trim the nails of your dog or cat if they are unable to have them done by you or your groomer. We use treats, gentle restraint, or occasionally sedation to make this as stress-free as possible. We can even teach you how to do this essential grooming at home.
Euthanasia/Cremation
Sometimes despite everyone’s best efforts, it is time to say goodbye to a beloved pet. We strive to make your pet’s end-of-life care gentle, compassionate, and pain-free. Should you be facing this difficult decision, we can discuss options for palliative care, euthanasia, and cremation.
